Jefferson David Kilpatrick, 90, of Lubbock Texas was called home to heaven on Father’s Day, June 18, 2023.  A long-time resident of Loveland, Colorado, Jeff was born February 19, 1933 in Milton Florida to Joshua “Frank” and Joe Anna (Gallops) Kilpatrick.  He was the youngest of 6 children and was fondly known as “Jay” by his family.

Jeff went into the United States Air Force in April 1952.  Back then his nickname was “Red” for his red hair.  Jeff worked on B52 Bombers and F4 Phantoms.  He served in various places in the United States and overseas in Thailand, French Morocco, Puerto Rico and Spain.  He retired from service after 27 years of service as a CMSgt.

In the early 1950’s, Jeff was stationed in Denver Colorado where he met Virginia Ramirez.  Jeff married the love of his life, Virginia, on March 13, 1954.  After Jeff’s retirement from the military in 1979, they moved to Loveland, Colorado to be closer to family.  His new nickname quickly became “JD.”  Jeff and Virginia worked together tirelessly on their yard and garden.  The two had a beautiful union that lasted for 66 years, until Virginia’s passing in early 2020.

Jeff loved classic country music, with Johnny Cash being one of his favorite artists.  It was a tradition for him to have his music playing every Sunday morning.  Later in life he was always singing, “It’s Spring time in Alaska”.  Jeff also loved dancing and loved being on the dance floor with his wonderful wife Virginia.

Jeff is survived by his son Daniel (Maria) Kilpatrick of Lubbock, TX and his daughter Grace (Jorge) Bravo of Chapin, SC.  Surviving grandchildren include:  Ashley Kilpatrick of Houston, TX; Marcus and Brandon Bravo of Chapin, SC; numerous nieces and nephews and loved ones.

Jeff was preceded in death by his loving wife Virginia (Ramirez); his parents Frank and Joe Anna Kilpatrick; his brother Daniel Joshua Kilpatrick, and sisters: Annie Pearl Beebe, Nealy Voncile (Buford-deceased) Morgan, Gracie Lee (Anthony-deceased) Monico, and Mattie Ola (Armand-deceased) Black.

A viewing for Jeff will be on June 26, 2023, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., at Kibbey-Fishburn Funeral Home in Loveland, Colorado.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on June 27, 2023, at 1:30 p.m. at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Loveland, Colorado for Jeff and Virginia. Due to COVID, we were unable to have a Catholic Mass for her. Interment will take place at Loveland Burial Park.
