Jerald Mid Norris, 82, passed away Wednesday, February 21, 2024, at his home in Loveland, CO. Jerald (Jerry) was born April 13, 1941, to James and Elizabeth (Thomas) Norris in Worland, WY, the 2nd oldest of six children. He graduated in 1959 from Lincoln High School in Lincoln, NE.
Jerry served in the U.S. Army in Vietnam as an SP4. He met his first wife, Carrol Jean Ragon, while he was still enlisted. They were married on September 27, 1968, in Lincoln, NE and he adopted Carrol’s two sons, Michael Lee and Jeffery Brian. He was Honorably discharged with a purple heart from the U.S. Army on December 10, 1970.
Jerry began his lifetime career in the construction industry in Lincoln, NE. The family relocated to Fort Collins, CO 2 years after the birth of his daughter Michelle Lynn. Jerry later started his own Construction business after working for Bartran Homes. Jerry was a skilled craftsman who thoroughly enjoyed building/construction. He and his brother Roger shared this skill together for several years before Roger’s passing in 1992. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends and loved to go fishing, camping and hunting when he had the time. He also spent several years dedicating his time to the Boy Scouts, Little League Baseball, and Softball.
Jerry divorced from Carrol in 1995. A few years later, he met his current wife, Karolyn Clemmons, and they were married on March 11, 1998, in Las Vegas, NV. They eventually settled in Loveland, CO and Jerry retired from the Construction industry in 2015. Afterwards he enjoyed road trips and several trips to Huntington Beach, CA. One of his most memorable trips was the High Plains Honors Flight to Washington DC where he was flown with many other veterans and received “a welcome home that many never received”.
Jerry is survived by his wife, Karolyn; daughter, Michelle Lynn (Yeager), son, Jeffery Brian Norris, stepson, Thomas LaFiura; grandchildren, Jacquelyn, Brandon, Tiffany, Ashley and Chloe; great grandchildren, Ariel, Axel and Ozzy; sister, Jenice (Miller); brother, Randall Sr. and wife Cynthia (Shackles); and numerous nieces and nephews. Jerald was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Ronald, Roger and sister, Mary Jane (Janie) and son Michael Lee.
Military services will be held on Friday, March 15, 2024, at Fort Logan National Cemetery at 10:30 AM. Burial will follow at Fort Logan. Cremation services were provided by Kibbey-Fishburn in Loveland, CO.
