It is with a heavy heart we remember Joan Lindley Faulkner, who died on September 12, 2023 after a ten day battle with viral meningitis brought on by the West Nile Virus. As a beloved wife, mother, sister, and grammy, she gracefully rode horseback into the sunset to be with her brothers and Creator.

Born September 20, 1939 in Duncan, Oklahoma, Joan had an instant love for horses, even caring for them as a child. Her passion for horses and the western way of life, led to an even greater passion of collecting antiques and art that captured life in America in the early 20th century. She would travel from state to state to attend auctions and estate sales looking for treasures of the era. Her collection became so impressive, HGTV featured her western room on an episode of “That 50’s Home”.

Joan had a love for cooking and never let an opportunity pass to make you breakfast or a small meal should you pay her a visit. Thanksgiving was always a favorite holiday as she would host and cook for dozens of family members, both immediate and extended, from three generations. She never wanted the table cleared as she thought it would break up the party and as long as there was laughter and conversation, the dishes could wait.

Joan had many other hobbies. Joan had a beautiful soprano voice and sang with a variety of choirs and choruses. As one of the earliest members of the BroomfieldCivic Chorus, she sang for over 40 years for countless events, causes, holidays, and charities. She was also an avid sewer who cherished her clubs and the time spent with friends.

Joan graduated from Colorado College and continued her education in medical records at St. Joseph Hospital in Houston where she met future husband Ron who was attending Optometry School at the University of Houston. They married inHouston and after a two year stint in the Army at Fort Meade in Maryland, they moved to Colorado in 1968. She was the mother of two, Brittany and Jason, and had two grandchildren, Claire and Jameson who she adored to her last breath.

Joan is preceded in death by her parents DR. E.C. and Helen Lindley, her brothers Dr. David Lindley and the Honorable George Lindley. She is survived by her husband Dr. Ronald Faulkner, sister-in-laws Jeannette Higbee (husband Gary), Wendi Lindley, Susan Lindley, children Brittany Vazquez (husband John) and Jason Faulkner, grandchildren Claire Crotteau (husband Brandon) and Jameson Vazquez.

A celebration of Joan’s life will be held on September 19, 2023 at 11:00 am at the Rundus Funeral Home located at 1998 W. 10th Avenue, Broomfield, Colorado.
