March 6, 1934 - July 9, 2023

Joan was born in Rosebud, Montana with her twin and lifelong best friend Jean. They had three older brothers and one younger sister. She was the last surviving sibling. While swimming at the local pool, she met her next best friend and the man she would spend her life with, Jim Jellison. After graduation, she and Jim married and moved to Denver to start their family. They had four children, Sandy, Karen, Doug, and Cathy.

Joan worked various jobs as she followed Jim around the country for his career. Some of these jobs included working on Capitol Hill and owning a restaurant. With every new move, she met new friends as she charmed and entertained people from the west coast to the east coast.

During election cycles, Joan also enjoyed being a fierce champion and working for local and national political candidates. Her endless generosity also led her to volunteer at her church, for Meals on Wheels, and at the Broomfield Senior Center. She loved to quilt, bowl, travel and spend time with her family and many friends.

She always put her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren first, attending all their milestone celebrations and events.

In a recent conversation with one of her granddaughters she told her “Do all the good you can, everywhere you can!” She lived by that motto and she did just that. We will miss her giving nature and beautiful soul.
