MARCH 28, 1942 – SEPTEMBER 24, 2022
John Dale Kennis (J.D), age 80, of Fort Collins, Colorado passed away on Saturday, September 24, 2022. He was surrounded by his loving family as he went home to be with God.
J.D. was born March 28th, 1942 in Salina, Kansas to John and Hester Florence (Sinclair) Kennis, who preceded him in death. J.D. was the 2nd of four children, and is survived by his brother, James (Donna); brother, Jesse (Judi); and sister, Julie Kennis.
J.D. married Gloria (Stubbs) on June 25th, 1961 in Phillipsburg, KS. They moved to Loveland, CO in 1976 for J.D. to start his new career of carpet and tile installation, which he continued until he retired.
J.D. loved his family and life-long friends. He welcomed any reason for a gathering together. He enjoyed playing sports when he was younger, and later enjoyed watching his kids and grandkids play. He always had to watch his Broncos, Rockies, and Dodgers. He loved to travel, hike, swim, fish, and eat good food!
J.D. was preceded in death by his beautiful bride, Gloria. He was survived by his five children, Dana, Gina, Mandy (Fred), Jeremy (Molly), and Joshua. He was also preceded in death by a beloved granddaughter, Sarai Grace, and is survived by 19 grandchildren, 12 1/2 great grandchildren, and numerous family members and friends.
J.D. leaves behind a legacy of love that he and his wife, Gloria, created and shared with everyone they encountered.
A celebration of life for John will be held Saturday, October 1, 2022 at 4:00 PM at Kennis Residence, 8173 Blue Moon Ct., Fort Collins, CO.
