Johnnie J. Velasquez, 82 of Loveland was born in Johnstown, CO on December 14th, 1940, passed away November 16th, 2023 to be with his Lord and Savior.
He was the 3rd child of 10 children born to Pete and Phyllis (Ornelas) Velasquez. He married Marcella Salazar in December 1964, together they had two children, Cathleen and Tony. They later divorced and he married Lorraine Waigh in May 1974 together they had 2 children, Jarrod and Stacey. They later divorced and he married Mary Renne June 3rd, 2017.
Johnnie was in the military in both the Navy and Army and honorably discharged. He was proud to be a Veteran.
He was employed by Boeing Manufacturing in both Wichita, KS and Everett, WA. He returned to Colorado and was employed by US Engineering and was a member of Sheet Metal workers Local Union #9. After his retirement, Johnnie along with his brother Tim did HVAC side jobs.
Johnnie enjoyed gardening with his wife Mary and working to have a meticulous yard. He also liked cooking his famous green chili and beans, he recently taught his daughter, Catheen, to can salsa.
Johnnie is survived by his children, daughter Cathleen (Daniel) Vigil along with her children, Christopher (Moraima)Trujillo, Mariana (Robert) Valdez, Carla Trujillo. Son Tony (Nerie) Velasquez along with his son Levi Velasquez and daughter Nicole Villacora. Son, Jarrod (Liz) Velasquez and his children, Daughter Tamaralyn Wells, son Aiden Velasquez. And Daughter Stacey Velaquez. Step children, Andrew Pelletier and Katie Polistena along with her daughter Olive Polistena.
Great grandchildren, Emilio Valdez, Jordyn Trujillo, Davion and Mylo Gonzalez, Luna and Layla Trujillo, EJ and Liliana Valdez, Isla Von Wender, and Kaleb Wells
Johnnie is survived by three sisters, Mary Lou (Plutarco) Adame, Nadine (Steve Reiter) Velasquez and Judy (Rory) Buxmann. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his Parents along with his Sisters, Ruthie Lara and Betty Vasquez, Brothers Tony, Joe Ben, Tim and Jeff.
Visitation 3-6:00 pm on Tuesday, November 28, 2023 at Kibbey-Fishburn Funeral Home with Recitation of the Rosary to follow. Christian Mass at 10:00 Wednesday, November 29, 2023 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Loveland, Colorado. Burial services will take place Thursday November 30th at Ft. Logan National Cemetery, Denver, Colorado
