OCTOBER 10, 1941 – JUNE 8, 2023

Judith "Judy" Marie Miller Uhrig, age 81, of Wellington, Colorado was welcomed into the arms of Jesus on Thursday, June 8, 2023.

Judy was born on October 10, 1941 in Brush, Colorado, to Maude Harbert Miller and Edward Miller. She grew up on a farm and ranch southeast of Anton and in Akron, Colorado. She graduated from Akron High School in 1959, attended Colorado Women’s College, and graduated from Colorado State University with a degree in Speech Language Pathology. She worked as a speech therapist in Sterling, Colorado, where she met Roy Uhrig. They were married June 6, 1965.

Judy distinguished herself through her activities in Jaycees, and in the 1970s she started Farm WIFE (Women Involved in Farm Economics) and was appointed to the Colorado Commission on Women by Governor Richard Lamm. She was actively involved in local politics, serving as campaign manager and worker for several Republican candidates in the northeast Colorado region.

In the late 1980s she served on the school board for RE-1 Valley School District in Sterling, Colorado. As she was doing all of these things, she raised her two children, Amy and Karl, and was fully involved in the family farm. After retirement, Judy and Roy moved to Loveland, Colorado, and lived out their retirement years traveling, visiting family, and participating in their church, Redeemer Lutheran. Judy made friends wherever she went, and touched the lives of all who knew her. She had a gift for making anyone feel good about themselves after interacting with her and for remembering all the details of those interactions. She was an excellent listener and a joyful conversationalist. She will be profoundly missed and fondly remembered.

Judy is preceded in death by her husband Roy Uhrig and her parents, Edward and Maude Miller. She is survived by her children, Amy Hayes and Karl Uhrig, and by her grandchildren Alyssa Hayes, Whitney Hayes Orndorff, Melaina Uhrig, and Max Uhrig.

A Celebration of Judy's Life will be held at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Fort Collins on Tuesday, July 11, 2023 at 10:30am. Fond memories of Judy and words of condolence for her family are welcome at www.resthavencolorado.com.
