July 18, 1946 - May 22, 2021

Kenneth Hollis Petty passed away peacefully in his Timnath home on Saturday, May 22, with his daughter Londa by his side. He was 74 years old.

Kenny was born in Los Angeles, California on July 18, 1946. He remained in Southern California until the age of twenty, when he entered the military and served in the Navy for five years. Later, Kenny moved to Colorado, where he earned his HVAC Certification from the Denver Institute of Technology.

For years Kenny worked in HVAC and construction, while also cultivating his love for motorcycles and restoring hot rods. Eventually he would discover another passion: sobriety. Kenny is credited with helping several people with their own sobriety, and is remembered for offering steady support during some of their darkest times.

Kenny was the personification of still waters running deep. He was a tough biker type in appearance only—in reality he was a teddy bear, who was fiercely protective of and generous with those he loved most. Kenny was also known for being an excellent listener, who never gave unsolicited advice (a trait much appreciated by his children). Though a complex man, he enjoyed the simple pleasures of life: riding Harleys, renovating cars, and boating at Carter Lake.

In 2003, Kenny was given a new lease on life when he received a liver transplant. This was a defining moment for him, and he always counted his blessings for the additional years he was given.

Kenny is survived by his younger brother and three children. He was proceeded in death by his parents, older brother, and beloved dog and companion, Gideon.

A celebration of life will be held on Friday, August 6, 2021 at 1 p.m. at the VFW Post 41, 305 S. Cleveland Ave. in Loveland.
