October 8, 1927 - August 15, 2023

"Fern" passed away peacefully at home on August 15th, 2023 age 95.  She was born in Rawlins County Kansas to Etta Amelia (Johnson) & Maridan "Alvin" Davis on their farm on October 8th, 1927.  She was the 7th of 8 children born to their union.  She attended a one-room country school until the eighth grade when she moved into town (Atwood, KS).  She graduated from Atwood High School in 1945.  She worked at Manning Grocery in Atwood until she moved to Wyoming. She lived in Wyoming with her older sister Zelta "Peggy" Connelly and her family for several years.  She helped run the diner and cabins they owned together.  Later, in Rawlins, Wyoming she worked as a telephone operator.

In 1955 she was introduced in Loveland to her future husband Glenn E Foote, by friends of her parents, Tone and Stella Shipley (Glenn's uncle and aunt).  She and Glenn were married March 19th, 1956 in Loveland. They initially lived and farmed east of Tucumcari, NM where she was a homemaker. In 1959 they moved to Loveland and lived there until 1964 when they and their boys moved to Estes Park, CO because Glenn became a fulltime employee of Rocky Mountain National Park. She loved living in the mountains. There she enjoyed welcoming friends and family to her home.  Fern's love of family fostered her passionate pursuit of genealogy long before computer databases aided in such research. Genealogy introduced her to and connected her with extended family and their histories throughout the years.  She loved reading, baking, traveling and spending time with family.  She and Glenn resided in Estes until 2000 before returning to Loveland.

Fern and Glenn were blessed with four children.  Ronald E born in 1957, passed away in Pueblo West, CO in 2019; Craig Alan born in 1959; Lori Mae born in 1965; Gwendolyn Marie born in 1966.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, parents, six siblings, her husband and her oldest son Ron. She is survived by her sister Lela (Delmar) Bonser of Loveland, CO, son Craig whose care allowed her to remain in her home in Loveland, two daughters, Dr. Lori Jimison (Daryl) of Loveland, and Gwendolyn Kahler (Keith) of Parker, CO, as well as a beloved daughter-in-law Sharon (Ron) Foote of Pueblo West, CO.  She had seven grandchildren, Tyler (Hally) Foote, Veronica (Jamieko) Lane, Ryan (Jerrika) Foote, Conner Jimison, Saundra Kahler, Daniel Jimison and Keith Eric Kahler.  She was thrilled to have two great-grandsons, Oliver Foote and Eli Foote as well.  She is also survived by many cherished nieces, nephews, cousins and in-laws.
