Linda Kay Wyman, age 82 peacefully passed away January 8, 2024, at her home in Broomfield, Colo. She was preceded in death by her parents Charles “Doc” and Isabel (Beightol) Wiley, husband Clayton “Gene” Wyman and daughter Kristin Foudray Smalley. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Dana and Josh Kamp, grandchildren Brayden, Isabel and Reagan, son-in-law Jerome Smalley, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Though born in Elkhart, Kansas, Linda grew up in Baca County, Colo. She moved to Springfield, the county seat, in 1950. After graduating from Adams State College with a B.A., Linda pursued a teaching career. Her love of reading and writing led her to teach language arts for part of her career. The last few years she enjoyed teaching at Longmont Academy, a small private school.

Linda met Gene through a mutual friend in 1973, and they married on December 21, 1974. Throughout her life, Linda was always up for trying new adventures. She was very creative. Friends and family grew to appreciate her creative Christmas cards, skits for school plays or family vacations, homemade Halloween costumes and dresses, and even a few paintings she created.

She traveled extensively across the country, as well as in Europe and on the high seas. In later years, she loved golfing (though she hated putting), playing bridge and mahjong, and participating in a neighborhood book club and afternoon happy hours on her “bistro.” Her supportive, caring, brave nature was contagious to those around her. Linda was loved and will be missed by all whom she touched.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Linda’s honor to either Loving Arms Pet Placement in Houston, Texas,  https://www.lovingarmspetplacement.com, or the Rocky Mountain Rett Association in Denver, CO. https://www.rmrett.org/take-action
