Lloyd Elmer Peele, 96, passed away on October 27th 2020

A native of Longmont, he joined the Army during WWII.  He was a P.O.W. in Germany for a year and three months.  He was awarded the Silver Star, Bronze Star, Purple Heart with cluster and combat ribbon with seven stars.

When the war ended, he went to work at Montgomery Ward where he met Inza.  They were married August 19, 1946.  Soon after he started working for the post office as a letter carrier and eventually as a rural carrier until his retirement in 1984.

Lloyd and Inza were married for 72 years when Inza passed away on November 15, 2018.  He was also proceeded in death by his parents Carl and Thyra (Olson) Peele, two older brothers, Kenneth and Rodney, two older sisters, Clara Belle (Bohn) and LaVerne (Edwards) and a twin brother, Floyd, who died at six months old.

He is survived by his daughter Vicki Dahmer, grandchildren Toby Kline (Jamie, Trinity and Hailey) Tanya and Brittany VanCleef, sister-in-law Jean Pickett and several nieces and nephews.

Lloyd was a member of the V.F.W, American Legion, American EX-P.O.W’s and Elks.

His hobby was oil painting, especially the Colorado mountain scenery.

A visitation will be held from 10:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Thursday November 5th 2020 at Carroll-Lewellen Funeral Chapel.  Private burial will be at Longmont Mountain View Cemetery.
