August 8, 1944 - December 5, 2023

It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of our beautiful and loving mother Luz Maria Aréchiga Belvo on Tuesday, December 5th, 2023.

She was a devoted mother, cherished friend, and a pillar of strength for all who knew her. Luz leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness that touched the lives of everyone she encountered. Her nurturing spirit, unwavering support, and selfless acts defined her as a beacon of light, as her given name reflects. Luz entered the world on August 8th, 1944, to Concepción Del Rio and Salvador Aréchiga in Sayula, Mexico. She was one of six siblings, Raul, Rosalba, Conchita, Julio and Salvador. She was raised in Sayula Jalisco and at the age of 17 she went to visit her cousin in Centerville, Ohio.  A few months later she met the love of her life, Charles.  She returned home to Mexico, and shortly after, Charles made a trip to visit her for a proposal. They married in November of 1963 and raised 5 children in Centerville, Ohio. They moved to Sun City, Arizona in 1999. They enjoyed their community and were very engaged with their church - St. Clement of Rome including St. Vincent de Paul Society and were involved with Sun City line dancing and their community of friends. Their favorite song to dance to was “He drinks Tequila and she talks dirty in Spanish”. They were married for 47 years before Charles passed away in 2011. To be near her family, Luz moved to Loveland, Colorado in May of 2022.

Luz was a devout Catholic and her family meant the world to her. She loved sharing her family memories, especially her hispanic culture and food. Sharing her love for mariachi music and always making her favorite foods including frijoles, sopitos and Mexican spaghetti.
