Marilyn Voorhis, age 78, loving mother of two, grandmother of 5, great-grandmother of 1 and adoring wife of husband David Voorhis, passed away in the evening hours of the 3rd of April after a courageous battle with Parkinson’s disease.

Marilyn was born in 1944 in South Dakota, grew up in Iowa surrounded by her large family of 8 including 5 younger siblings. Marilyn was influenced by her family to be a loving and caring woman, always giving her time to others, she incorporated that same attention into her motherhood. Following her adventurous spirit, she moved from Iowa to Boulder Colorado in 1964 where she met her husband David while at working for the Boulder Police Department, they fell in love instantly. With a shared love for family, they had their first child Kristin in 1976 followed by their second Scott in 1978. As a mother she was generous, loving and kind. It was her goal to provide her children with as many meaningful and memorable life experiences as possible. Marilyn cherished being a grandmother to her 5 grandchildren and spoiled them equally. She recently became a great grandmother to a beautiful little girl who was the highlight of her life.

Marilyn loved travel and adventure, filling her time with activities like jeeping, camping and fishing, taking every opportunity to see and experience the world, sharing her love for life with everyone she touched. She enjoyed cooking for and hosting family and friends for weekend gatherings and holidays as bringing people together was a value deeply imbedded in her heart.

Marilyn will be greatly missed by her family and friends. She leaves behind so many unforgettable memories that will be cherished forever. We know that we can’t have you, but we are happy knowing that the angels have finally got you back. Goodbye to a wonderful woman and a beautiful wife and mother.

Marilyn is survived by her husband David, daughter Kristin and son Scott, 5 grandchildren, Trey, Isaac, Zane, Kyli, Anthony, and great granddaughter Nyla.
