JANUARY 9, 1924 – DECEMBER 6, 2021

On December 6th Marvel Marie Jordan, ascended into the arms of Her Lord to be joined with her husband, Robert; son, Ronald; as well as family and friends awaiting her arrival.

Marvel was born on January 9, 1924, nearly 98 years ago to Jesse Elijah and Sarah Belle Dulin in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

Upon graduation, she moved to Chicago and received her Nursing Degree from Michael Reese Hospital. It was there she met and fell in love with Robert, a patient and sailor on leave. On September 24, 1944, they were married after a Sunday church service in her childhood church.

They raised their family of four children, Ronald (deceased), Douglas (Neva) of Grundy Center, Iowa, Ann (Charles) Mear of Fort Collins, and Richard (Carol) of Galena, Illinois, and two loving daughter-in-laws, Sandy (John) Vande Walle of Fort Collins and Dawn Jordan (Jamie Laviner) of Loveland. She was blessed with seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

In 1969, they moved to Fort Collins. Marvel continued her nursing career at various medical offices, including the office of Dr. James Hoffman and at the City of Fort Collins Street Department.

Upon retirement, Bob and Marvel traveled for several years and then made Apache Junction, Arizona their “second” home. Many wonderful memories and friendships came from the winters spent there.

Her memories will also remain with sister-in-law, Pat (George) Richards of Glen Ellyn, Illinois. Many came to call her “Mom” throughout her life, who will have great memories and who will continue to be cherished by remaining family members.

For several wonderful years, she called Lemay Avenue Health and Rehabilitation her home. She made many friends there in both the staff and residents, and loved the activities that filled their days. Many will miss her, but the warmth and caring of conversations with her will remain in those who came to love her.

A “Marvel-ous” Celebration of her Life will be planned this spring when flowers are in bloom, the air is fresh, and the sun warms our shoulders.
