September 4, 1963 ~ September 1, 2021 (age 57)

Matthew Joseph Bueno, 57 of Longmont, CO passed away peacefully into the arms of Jesus on September 1, 2021. Matthew was born on September 4, 1963, in Longmont, CO to Sally Herrera and Lupe Bueno. Shortly after his birth, his dad married Alvina Bueno. Matthew lived with and was raised by Lupe and Alvina from the time he was an infant. His dad died when he was 13 years old. From that time, Alvina continued to raise Matthew as a single mother along with her other two children. Alvina loved and cared for Matthew as her own child, and he forever admired and was indebted to her for the love and life she provided to him. In his childhood years, he resided in Boulder, CO where he attended and graduated from Boulder High School. After high school he went on to attend bodyguard school and then moved to Los Angeles, CA for a brief time where he worked various security jobs – even for a few celebrities (I’m sure a few of you have heard the stories). He then moved back to Colorado and attended Front Range Community College where he studied Business Administration and Marketing. After graduating, he held various sales roles in the telecom and software industries. If you knew Matthew, you know he didn’t know a stranger which made him very successful in his sales career. One of the highlights of his career was during the time he worked for Red Hen Systems where he sold and coordinated video mapping software for various government and military branches. Matthew always had a great reverence for our military as his own dad served in WWII.

Matthew and Carey Duncan-Bueno initially met as friends, later began dating and were married June 3, 1995. They moved to Albuquerque, NM for two years for Matthew’s work and then moved back to Colorado to be close to family as they wanted to start their own family. Out of that union, three children: Abrielle, Tyler and Austin were born. There was nothing that made Matthew prouder than his kids – he adored each one of them with all his heart and soul. Nothing made him feel more accomplished in life than the three of them. He also had the opportunity to become a grandpa for a short time to Mason and Gracie or as they lovingly called him “Papi”. He loved spending time with them and seeing the world through their young eyes.

Aside from spending time with his family, some of his favorite pastimes were disc golf, playing with his dogs, fishing, working on this car and finding his next project to do around the house. He also loved his church and disc golf communities. Matthew had a heart of gold and was known to stop and help complete strangers whether it was giving them some money, food, fixing a flat tire or giving their car a jump. When there was a big snowstorm, he was known to go out in his Jeep to pull people out that were stuck. He saw helping others as a way of living out his faith.

Matthew is survived by his wife of 26 years, Carey Duncan-Bueno, daughter, Abrielle Bueno her Fiancé, Juan Carreon, their two children, Mason, and Gracie. Sons, Tyler Bueno, and Austin Bueno. Eight siblings, Denise Herrera, Mike Herrera, Eddie Herrera, Bob Pinley, JoAnn Pinley, Leon Pinley and two stepsiblings, Janet Romero, and Raymond Romero. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Two services will be held: A Celebration of Life will be held on September 25, 2021, at 11:00am for family and friends and September 26, 2021, at 10:00am for our church family. Both services will be held at Bible Baptist Church of Erie, 5050 NE County Line Rd 1, Erie, CO. In lieu of flowers, please make any memorial contributions to the Bible Baptist Church of Erie at the address noted above. Matthew loved people and giving back to his community and donations made will be used for various missions and community projects through the church in his honor.
