December 12, 1972 ~ January 4, 2022 (age 49)

Michael Paul Michaud, 49, of Longmont, died peacefully on January 4th, 2022, at Longmont United Hospital with his loving family by his side. Mike was born December 12th, 1972, in Prince George’s County, Maryland, to Rose and Ray Michaud; Michael moved to Longmont in 1980.

Mike grew up in Longmont, where he has fond memories of his childhood life working, playing, and helping his family run a video store in the small town of Erie.  Mike graduated from Erie High School in 1991 and a year later joined the Navy at 20 years old.

DPSR Michael Michaud spent four years in the Navy and was based in San Diego, California, on the USS-Essex, where he studied and worked in Data Processing; he was honorably discharged and returned home in 1996.

He met the love of his life, Shelly Brooker, on a camping trip in Lake McConaughy, Nebraska, in 2000; three years later, they were married at Lake Powell in Utah. They moved to their current home in Longmont in 2003, where they built their family and enjoyed life in a comfortable rural atmosphere outside of the hustle and bustle of the city.

Mike was an amazing father to Anthony Brooker. In 2005 they welcomed another Son, Taylor Michaud-Brooker.  He did all the things an awesome Father would do, taught them about life, love, sports, and the joy of camping and being on the water.  He taught them how to ride motorcycles, work on them, repair them and keep them running.  They had a small dirt track on their property that you would hear a dirt bike buzzing around all hours of the day.

Mike enjoyed the outdoors, traveling, and camping; he spent much of his free time with his family visiting exciting places such as Lake Powell, Lake of the Ozarks, and all of the popular lakes around the Colorado Front range. He had many motor homes; he enjoyed working on them, upgrading, and maintaining them.  Mike did his best to make traveling comfortable, enjoyable and provided a fantastic home on wheels for his family.

Mikes’ real love was Sports, particularly football.  He loved the Denver Broncos and the Colorado Buffaloes; he would not miss a game at any cost.  Every weekend the TV was on, and there was always a sports game playing with Mike attentively watching and cheering for his favorites.

Mike was preceded in death by his Grandmother Irene Michaud, Mother Rose Michaud, Uncle Danny Michaud, and Mother-in-law Kay Brooker.

He is survived by his Father Ray Michaud, Brother Eric Michaud, Wife Shelly Michaud, Sons Anthony, and Taylor Michaud- Brooker. Father in -law Ken Brooker, Brother-in-law Tad (Lisa) Brooker, and three nieces Nicole (Josh) Bielecki, Natalie (Jake) Brooker, Madison Michaud, and great-niece Rori Bielecki.

In Mike’s memory, give your Mother, Father, Son, and Daughter, a hug, live life to the fullest, watch the football game, remember nothing is forever, and enjoy the great times!

On Saturday, January 22nd at 2:00 pm, a celebration of life will be held at the American Legion Post 32 at 315 South Bowen Street in Longmont. Interment will follow with the family at a later date at Fort Logan Cemetery in honor of his military service.
