Monserrate “Tati” Caro went to be with our Lord on Wednesday, July 21st, 2021 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease. She resided at Manor Care Nursing Home in Boulder, Colorado. Tati was born in Rincon, Puerto Rico on September 13, 1933 to Eugenio Caro and Maria De Jesus Muniz. Tati moved to New York City in the early 1950’s to live with her brother, Jesus and Sister-in-Law, Josefa. They introduced Tati to Aladino Ramos, Josepha’s brother, who was also born and raised in Rincon, PR. Tati and Aladino were married in Manhattan in 1953.

In 1955 they had their first child, a daughter Mildred, in 1957, son Aladino (Little Al) and in 1958 they had their third child Luis. Tati was a perfectionist in her home, work and throughout her entire life. Tati would speak Spanish to her children while her husband spoke to them in English. Tati and Al raised their children in Manhattan and Queens, and then settled in Commack, New York. Tati loved to cook and stayed close to her Puerto Rican traditions. Family was everything to Tati. She rejoiced in being a mother and grandmother. She was passionate about children.

Tati’s son, Luis joined the United States Air Force 1976. In 1982 Tati moved to Upland, California to be close to her son, Al and daughter, Millie. Tati was employed for many years at Harvey Mudd College, Claremont California. She supervised planning large events held at the University. In the late 1980’s she moved to Victorville, California and lived minutes from her son Al, daughter-in-law Holly and two grandchildren, Brandon and Mathew.

In 1996, Tati moved to Daytona Beach, Florida to be near her daughter, Millie. She loved her apartment and view of the Halifax River. She established many life-long friendships in Daytona Beach. She was a devout Catholic and attended the Basilica of Saint Paul. She walked faithfully each Sunday to attend mass. She was a generous soul and gave to many nonprofit organizations, devoted to either children or feeding the poor. After the loss of her son Al in 2014, Tati’s health declined. In 2016, she moved to Colorado to live near her youngest son, Luis, daughter-in-law Bonnie and grandsons Bobby and Brennan. She moved into The Legacy, an independent living facility. She told everyone that it was one of the happiest times in her life.
In 2018, Tati’s Alzheimer’s disease progressed, and she was transferred to Manor Care, Skilled Nursing facility in the Memory Care Unit in Boulder. She fought a long, hard battle and became the favorite of many of the Nurses, CNAs and Hospice caregivers. She had the sweetest disposition and will be truly missed by those that had the pleasure of knowing her.

Tati was preceded in death by her brothers and sisters. Her first baby granddaughter, Kristina Hope Muniz, 1980, Aladino Ramos Sr., 2011, her son Aladino Jr. in 2014, son-in-Law, Klaus “Nick” Marschik in 2016 and daughter Mildred “Millie” Marschik in 2020. Tati is survived by her son, Luis Ramos, wife Bonnie of Superior, CO and daughter-in-law, Harrell “Holly” Peterson-Ramos of Naples, FL. Tati has four grandsons, Brandon Ramos (wife Ashley) of Granite Falls, WA; Robert (Bobby) Angelo of Denver, CO; Mathew Ramos of Naples, FL and Brennan Ramos of Boston, MA.

A Mass and Christian burial will be held for Tati on August 6th, 11am, at Sacred Heart of Mary Catholic Church, 6739 S. Boulder Road, Boulder, Colorado. A reception lunch will follow at 1pm at the Ramos home in Superior.

Grant eternal rest unto Tati, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon her. May her soul and the souls of all the faithfully departed, through the mercy of God rest in peace. Amen.
