Nancy Whitaker Schwarz of Fort Collins, Colorado passed away on Tuesday, September 14th, 2021 in her hometown. Nancy was loved and admired by so many and will be greatly missed.
Nancy was born in Des Moines Iowa on January 11th, 1944. Once in elementary school, Nancy and her parents, Fred and Vendla Whitaker moved to a much smaller Fort Collins, Colorado. It is there where she fell in love with the Big Thompson Canyon and the Colorado sky. She graduated from Fort Collins High school in 1962. She thoroughly loved growing up in Northern Colorado. It was a favorite time in her life.
Nancy briefly lived in both southern California and Nebraska before setting down in her hometown of Fort Collins.
It is there where she became a mother to both Lindsay and Matthew. Being a mother was her greatest joy. She loved her children and her grandchildren madly.
Nancy married Eugene A. Schwarz of Lexington, Nebraska on January 5th, 1996. The two remained in the Fort Collins area where they loved spending time with their friends and family.
Nancy retired from United Medical Alliance in 2016. She has very much enjoyed playing canasta and bunnco with her dear friends. Her lunch dates always brought a smile to her face. She has kept several friendships from both high school and her adolescence. Her friends meant so much to her. She was most happy shopping and traveling with her daughter, spending time with her son and grandchildren, and enjoying meals out with her husband.
Nancy fought and won two battles with breast cancer over the past 20 years. She remained devoted to breast cancer awareness throughout the remainder of her life. She continued to work on her high school reunion committee and adored going to her reunions every year. Nancy's generous and high-spirited nature made her a favorite at all parties and events. She made everyone laugh, feel welcome and loved.
Her beautiful life will forever be cherished by those fortunate enough to have known her.
Nancy is survived by her husband, Eugene Schwarz of Fort Collins Colorado, his 5 children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her daughter Lindsay (Preston) Peterson of Loveland Colorado, her son Matthew (Heather) Grippen of Bashore, Kansas, her "bonus daughter" Traci (Tim) Occhiuto of Canon City Colorado, her niece Justine Davis of Fort Dodge Iowa, cousins, Bretta Norman of Thornton, Colorado, Linda William (Dwight) of Midland, Michigan, and her two beloved grandchildren, Addison and Connor Grippen.
A celebration of life will be held at Pelican Lakes Resort in Windsor Colorado on Sunday, October 10th at 3:30 p.m. Family and friends are welcome to a gathering with refreshments immediately following the service. Nancy's family would like to sincerely thank all of our friends for the continuous support and prayers at this time.
