Patricia J. Nelson, 91, of Loveland, Colorado, formerly of Rockford, Illinois, passed away on Wednesday, 12/30/2020. She was born to parents Dr. Martin and Gladys Johnson, on 07/06/1929 in Rockford, Illinois. Patricia graduated from East High School, Rockford Illinois, in 1947 and went on to study and receive a degree in Music from Rockford College in 1951. Patricia was an elementary school teacher for several years after graduating college.
Patricia was a member of numerous social clubs, book clubs, investment clubs and music associations, both in Rockford and Loveland. Patricia was the president of The Mendelssohn Performing Arts Club, Rockford, Illinois from 1968 to 1970 and was a former member of Forest Hills Country Club, Rockford, Illinois. She was an active member of Mountain View Presbyterian Church, Loveland, Colorado and a former member of Temple Baptist Church in Rockford, Illinois where she sang in the choir and played the organ. She was also an active member of the Loveland PEO, FL chapter.
Patricia met her husband, LeRoy Nelson, in high school and got married on July 14, 1951. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband. She leaves behind her sons; Jeff (Teri) Nelson of Dublin, Ohio, Mike (Tana) Nelson of Loveland, Colorado, four grandchildren; Andrew Nelson of Dublin, Ohio, Jennifer(Jimmy) Weeks of North Charleston, South Carolina, Kristen(Kurt) Thomas of Johnstown, Colorado, and Thomas(Lori) Nelson of Grand Junction, Colorado and one great granddaughter, Madison Weeks of North Charleston, South Carolina.
The family has decided to do a memorial service at a later date that will be announced.
