MARCH 16, 1941 – APRIL 4, 2021

Peggy Lou Hemmerle passed away peacefully at Life Care Center of Longmont, CO on Sunday, April 4, 2021. She was 80 years old.

Peggy was born on March 16, 1941 in Albuquerque, NM to Ivall Redfearn and Margaret Anderson. She spent her childhood and teen years, and went on to graduate high school, in New Mexico. In October of 1957, Peggy married Terry Griffith. Peggy and Terry brought three beautiful children into the world. They were together until Terry’s passing in September of 2000. Peggy moved to the Longmont area in 2003 from Kirk, CO, and married Eugene Hemmerle on March 2, 2009.

Peggy was a bookkeeper in the 1970s for Fashion Bar. She also spent 20 years as a bookkeeper for Bowl Aurora in Aurora, CO. She was most recently employed at JoAnn’s Fabric Shop in Longmont. Peggy and Eugene were members of the American Legion in Longmont. She was an avid seamstress and spent many hours in her craft room at her sewing machine. Throughout the years, she made several beautiful wedding dresses. It was truly a labor of love for Peggy.

Peggy loved her family. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was loved and she will be missed.

Peggy was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband, Terence (Terry) Griffith, and her brother, Buster Redfearn. She is survived by her husband, Eugene Hemmerle; brothers, Darryl Redfearn and Rick Redfearn; sister, Rinda Martin; son, Terence Lee Griffith of Ventura, CA; daughters, Renada Lou Doddridge of Broomfield, CO and LaVonne Anne Stonebraker of Johnstown, CO; grandchildren, Michael Doddridge, Kyla Antony, Scott Doddridge, Lindy Kolibaba, Trista Gallegos-Armijo, Dustin Coyle, Ashlee McColley, Shelby Griffith, Joie Griffith, and Anthony Griffith; and 17 great-grandchildren.

The family hopes to hold a Celebration of Life later this summer, when warmer weather and circumstances allow for folks to gather. In her memory, consider a donation in Peggy’s name to Life Care Center of Longmont. Please visit www.ahlbergfuneralchapel.com to share a memory of Peggy and to leave a message for her family.
