FEBRUARY 19, 1938 – MARCH 24, 2022

Phillip “Phil” Baca passed away Thursday, March 24, 2022. Phil was born in Santa Fe, New Mexico on February 19, 1938, to parents, Alfonso, and Mildred Baca. Phil graduated in 1957, from Santa Fe High School.

Phil was the absolute best dad to his daughter, Cita whom he raised as a single dad from the time she was only 6 years old. He curled her hair for school pictures, and took sewing classes, so that he could make a tutu for her ballet recital. Phil worked at Kodak for 22 years, retiring in 1998. In his spare time Phil enjoyed making beautiful jewelry, playing cribbage, and playing pool. He also loved to cook for friends and family. He made the best enchiladas, red and green chili. He passed along this labor of love to his son in law, Trent. But his favorite past time was spending time with his grandson, Jaxson.

He is survived by his daughter, Cita (Trent) Lauden; grandson, Jaxson; his brother, Marcello (Rita) Baca; several nieces and nephews; and extended family to whom he was considered “Papa Phil”; and we can’t forget about his furry friends, Cooper, Harper and Tank.

In addition to his parents, Phil was predeceased by his sister, Toni Anna; and brothers, Alfonso Jr., Billy, and Tyner.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
