Born January 30, 1933 in Northrop, Minnesota. Died January 10, 2023 at 89 years old.
Phyllis had a full life, and was never idle. She loved reading and writing poetry and was creative in so many ways whether it was making a personalized quilt for a loved one, or making fun and meaningful crafts, but her greatest joy in life was being with her family. She loved sharing a cup of coffee while entertaining friends. And no one could compete with her pot roast and pecan pie. Phyllis loved games, but especially playing cards and Scrabble. She spent hours teaching her kids, neighborhood kids and then grandkids how to play. She was a great strategist and being on her team was usually an assured win with cards. The competitive Scrabble tournaments were many. Tea parties, blanket tents, dress ups, polishing fingernails, walks to the park, making perfume out of lilacs, 4th of July parties, rhubarb dipped in sugar, multiple-always full candy dishes, and facilitating the catching of crawdads were just some of the wonderful memories her grandchildren have with her. They all adored her. Having a strong faith in God carried her through the struggles of life. WE know that she is now with our Father in Heaven. Phyllis touched so many lives in her almost 90 years. She was very loved by all who knew her.
Phyllis Gieseke married William (Bill) Miles August 19, 1951. They had 68 years together before Bill’s passing in the spring of 2020. Together they raised three children: Robin (deceased in 2012) married Jerry Feeley; son, Kevin, is married to Denise Kechter; and daughter, Starr Hudson. Phyllis has 10 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
We will honor Phyllis at the chapel at Resthaven Funeral Home on Monday, January 16, 2023.
