Richard Allen Billings, age 66, died peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones on 12/2/2020. He was the oldest son of Charles Billings and Shirley nee-Treeland. He is survived by his loving wife, Diane Billings, his two daughters, Sheila and Jannessa, his brother Steven Billings, his grandchildren Kaelyn, Jansun, Lylian, and Eloise, as well as a large extended family. Born in Kansas City Kansas, Richard was a fun-loving father and grandfather who loved to tell jokes, help those in need, and befriended everyone. He was a prominent member of several local organizations including the Boulder Emergency Squad and the Cosmopolitan Club. He was a past police officer in Kansas City, Kansas and loved telling stories of how he provided security for celebrities. He moved to Boulder, Colorado as young man where he built a career at Crossroads Mall as a facility manager. He moved to Longmont in 1998. Family was the most important thing to Richard and there was nothing that he would not do to help those that he loved. He had many interests and talents. He loved to dance, play guitar, drive drag cars, play the steering wheel drums, go to the car races, and bowl. He was a talented conversationalist and had a way of making everyone feel loved and important. He worked hard to teach his children and his grandchildren everything that he knew. His final wishes were that those who knew him do not mourn for him. Instead, he wanted a celebration of life for everyone. At this time, the family is not having services, per his wishes. There will be an intimate gathering of close family and friends in the spring to celebrate Richard. In lieu of flowers, feel free to make a donation in his name to Autism Speaks.
