March 1, 1947 - March 1, 2022

Richard passed away peacefully at Good Samaritan Hospital in Lafayette on March 1, 2022. He was born in Pittsburgh, PA to Jean and Leon Nicaise in 1947. Rich lived in Pennsylvania until 1959, after which the family moved to Great Falls, MT.

In Great Falls, Rich met and married his High School sweetheart, Cheryl Amestoy. Rich attended the University of Montana where he achieved a Bachelor’s degree in Music and a Master’s degree in Education.

Rich taught music and was a school principal in Glasgow, MT, Nashua, MT and Deer Lodge, MT.

In 1987, Rich and his family moved to Broomfield, CO where he worked for Horace Mann Insurance for 15 years. Rich was also self employed for many years and then began his career with Home Depot in 2016.

Rich loved music. He had a beautiful singing voice and would often regale his family members and friends on their birthdays with an operatic performance of “Happy Birthday”. Often, in the middle of a crowded restaurant.

Rich’s joy was his family. Nothing was better than spending time with his loved ones. When remembering a family trip to Hawaii, his eyes would sparkle with happiness at the wonderful time spend with everyone in such a beautiful place.

Rich enjoyed the outdoors, landscaping and remodeling. He even trained the fish in his Koi Pond to eat out of his hand.

Rich is preceded in death by two sons, Collin Michael and Chase Andrew; his parents Jean and Leon Nicaise. He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Cheryl; two sons, Chad (Lisa) and Cory (Marci);one sister, Mary Ann (Charles);6 grandchildren, Chase, Brooke, Emily Conar, Walker, and Rylynn; and 1 great grandchild, Adrian.

Richard’s motto in life was “Live, Laugh, Love”, and wanted his family and friends to enjoy life that way as well.
