Richard (Wally) Wolniewicz died on December 21, 2020.
He was born in Chicago and is survived by his loving wife, Gretel, son, Richard, daughter, Susie Nothnagle, and sister, Helen Hnetynka. He has four grandchildren and a great-grandchild. He had six siblings.
Wally served 24 years in the US Air Force and graduated from the Air Force Academy. He taught geography, economics and flying at the Academy following graduation. He earned a PhD and worked for Lockheed Martin for 24 years as a space system engineer. After he retired, he was a farmer for 22 years, raising hay and pasturing horses; living a life that he loved.
Wally's family is currently composing a more thorough life story. A Memorial Mass will be held in his honor at St. Francis of Assisi Roman Catholic Church some time after Christmas.
