Richard William Block lost his life to cancer on August 20, 2021, at the age of 67. Rick was born at Saint Joseph’s hospital on September 4, 1953 to Bud and Jeanette Block. He is survived by his wife Cande Block and their three daughters Christina Wilson, Holly Martinez and Jessica Block. He was blessed with four grandchildren, Jaxon and Jude Wilson, Elizabeth and Noah Martinez. Rick was well loved and had a close relationship with his siblings. His eldest sister Ginny Kelly, spouse to Jack Kelly, elder brother Marty Block, spouse to Kathi Block and his youngest sister, Cindy Trautwein, widow to Jerry Trautwein.
Rick graduated from Alamosa High School in 1972. He lived in first filing in Broomfield since 1982. Rick became a successful businessman for fortune 500 companies all over the world. He started several businesses including Masters Technology International based in southeast Asia. He recently retired from another successful business he founded as an environmental consultant for S and R Environmental.
Rick gave his spiritual life to Jesus Christ in 1993. He worked with many ministries during his walk with Christ including Campus Crusade for Christ, Young Life, the Jesus film project and was a part of Histories Handful. Rick helped fund and traveled with the Jesus Film in Zimbabwe, Namibia and South Africa.
In lieu of flowers it was Rick’s wish that donations be made to thrive ministries. The Block family supports the Thrive ministry out of Flatirons church. Thrive is a program that helps individuals overcome barriers and work their way to self-sufficiency and stability through employment. Out of his desire to use his business for the glory of God, Rick hired several Thrive members over the years providing hope and dignity through employment.
