Roswita Elisabeth Niessner passed away in her home in Louisville, CO, on March 5, 2023. She was born in the far eastern part of Germany prior to WW II and her family had to abandon their home and flee before the war’s end. After many years behind the iron curtain, she was able to get out to the west and begin a life of freedom.

After several years working in Scotland and then West Germany, she met and married an American engineer. They started a family while moving to California and lived several decades in the San Francisco Bay Area. After numerous trips to the desert southwest, they moved to northern Arizona for the remainder of her husband’s life.

She then spent the remaining years of her life n Colorado assisting family. In her very full lifetime,  Roswita enjoyed many international trips to far corners of the globe; numerous outdoor activities including camping, hiking, and 4-wheeling; was always active in her church wherever she lived; and created and sustained a vast network of friends in the US and around the world. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert, and is survived by a daughter, Teri, and her sons, Steven and Mark. She will be sorely missed by family and friends alike.

A Memorial Service will be held at St. Andrew Presbyterian Church, 3700 Baseline Rd., Boulder, Colorado, at 1:30 PM on Sunday, April 2, 2023.
