Scott peacefully passed away on November 29, 2021 at the family home in Loveland surrounded by his family. He was born in Lincoln, Nebraska on August 25, 1972.
Scott is survived by his devoted and loving parents, Bill and Julie Mahaffy of Loveland; brother Bill (Billie) of Aurora, Colorado; sister Megan (Katlyn) of Berthoud, Co; sister Allison (Mark) of Seattle, Washington; many supportive aunts and uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Scott graduated from Loveland High School in 1991. He qualified for State Tennis Tournaments as a sophomore, junior and senior, and also played basketball where he was considered a talented three-point shooter. In addition, Scott was a member of Chamber Singers and Student Council.
Scott graduated from the University of Nebraska at Kearney with a degree in Sports Administration. He was a member of the Phi Delta Theta fraternity, following in the footsteps of his brother and father before him. After graduating, Scott began his career with State Farm Insurance as a claims adjuster. He soon thereafter joined Eberls as an independent catastrophe adjuster. His job took him to many locations throughout the United States adjusting losses from major storms such as Hurricane Katrina and the devastating California wildfires. Scott loved sharing stories of meeting people throughout our country and he enjoyed bringing compassion and tenderness to those suffering such great losses.
Scott was a curious soul with a love of history and travel. He was able to travel extensively throughout the world with his then-wife, Jacey. Most notably were his travels throughout all of Europe, Southeast Asia, South America and Central America.
Scott was an avid Nebraska Husker football fan. Everyone knew not to talk to him during a Husker game! He was a general sports enthusiast and enjoyed attending Wimbledon, The Ryder Cup, the Olympics, March Madness, and so much more. Scott loved to play golf, which he appreciated experiencing with his family - often on their home course Mariana Butte.
He will be dearly missed.
Scott’s Celebration of Life will be held at Mariana Butte Clubhouse on Saturday, December 11, 2021 from 3:00-6:00 pm. His memorial will begin at 4:30 pm.
