MARCH 28, 1939 – SEPTEMBER 19, 2023

In loving memory of Shirley Ann Rael, devoted daughter, loving wife, cherished mother, and adored grandmother!

Shirley leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and treasured memories. She was born on March 28, 1939, in Fort Collins, CO to Carl and Leah Strauch. The oldest of four children, Shirley enjoyed volunteering, cooking and baking for her family and friends, riding her bike, traveling, watching Hollywood classics, and socializing. Shirley was an avid CO sports fan and proudly cheered on the Rockies, Nuggets and Colorado State Rams!

She was humble, kind, and extremely giving.

Shirley’s devotion to her family was unwavering as she cared for everyone!

Shirley passed on September 19, 2023, at the age of 84 after a short, hard-fought battle with Leukemia.

She was preceded in death by her first-born daughter Laura Ann and grandson Dylan. She is survived by her husband John, children Gene, Debbie, Mary and Christina, her nine grandchildren, three great grandchildren and her brother Bob.

Shirley’s light may have dimmed, but the glow of her spirit will forever illuminate the lives she touched. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to one of Shirley’s favorite charities; Shriners Hospitals for Children or Saint Jude Children’s Hospital.

A celebration of Shirley’s life will be held Saturday October 7, 2023, 11:30 am at Plymouth Congregational Church where friends and family will gather to share stories, laughter, and tears in honor of an extraordinary woman. Those that wish to see Shirley and say their goodbyes may do so an hour before the service. Memories of Shirley and words of condolence for her family are welcome at www.resthavencolorado.com
