SEPTEMBER 18, 1958 – JULY 18, 2022

Steve Ochoa, a beloved husband, father, and grandfather peacefully entered the presence of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Monday, July 18, 2022.

One of his greatest accomplishments was achieving sobriety for 18 years. He beat cancer and finally received a long awaited liver transplant on May 19. After a courageous fight, he lost his battle due to complications. He left us far too young at the age of 63.

During his life, Steve enjoyed spending time with family, fishing, sports, music, Charlie Brown “Elmer”, Mohammed Ali, and loved cheering on our Colorado sports teams, especially the Denver Broncos. He met his wife and soul mate of 44 years, Mel “Meldew” at the age of 10 at Monroe ES. Steve wooed Mel while impersonating “Teddy Bear” by one of his favorite icons, Elvis. Their fairy tale love blessed him with 3 children and 6 grandchildren. He was so grateful for his close-knit family and all the memories they made.

Steve is survived by his wife, Melodee; children, Stephanie (Matt) McDonald, T.K. (Jimmy) Ochoa-Porter, and Blayne (Melanie) Ochoa; 6 grandchildren, Joslynn and Matthew Jones, Baily, Autumn and Justin Porter, and Bellemy Ochoa; sister, Cheryl Ochoa; and brother, Richard Ochoa. He was also survived by Mel and Delores Neal “Mom and Dad”, Carla and Greg DeArmond and family, as well as many other family and friends.

Steve was preceded in death by his parents, Humberto and Marcella Ochoa; brother, Robert Ochoa; and grandparents.

A Graveside service will be Tuesday, July 26 at 11:00 am at Resthaven Memory Gardens. Reception to follow at the home of Steve and Mel.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Steve’s name to www.donatelife.net or www.pcf.org.
