Susan passed away peacefully into the lord’s hands on September 4th at MCR after a short battle with a rare disease. Susan was born to Duane Florin and Janette (Marx) Florin in Cochran, Wisconsin. Her father passed away from the effects of Polio when Susan was five years old. In 1960, her mother moved Susan and brother to Fort Collins, CO where she attended Remington Elementary School, Lincoln Junior High and graduated from Poudre High School in 1969.
Susan met Rick Traphagan going into her sophomore year of high school. They started “going steady” September 23, 1966 and remained together until her death. Susan and Rick were married April 10, 1971. In 1983, their daughter, Kelsi, was born. Susan and Kelsi always enjoyed an extremely close relationship and embodied an exemplary loving mother daughter relationship.
Kelsi attended Colorado State University where she met her future husband, Tyler Hollingsworth. She graduated in 2006 and Ty and Kelsi were married in 2010. In 2015, Susan was blessed with a granddaughter, Lucy Claire, who she loved and adored.
Susan was a beautiful woman of faith, accepting Jesus Christ as her personal Lord and Savior. A selfless person respected and loved by so many. Susan enjoyed spending her time in the mountains exploring, hiking and camping in their RVs over the past 40 years. A football fan, looking forward to the upcoming season, Susan had a love for golden retrievers, having many since 1978.
She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Rick Traphagan, daughter, Kelsi Hollingsworth, son-in-law, Tyler Hollingsworth, granddaughter, Lucy Hollingsworth, brother, Robert Florin, her beloved golden, Gracie, who never left her side while ill and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Bette Rogneby and grandparents.
“The greatest of my gifts mean nothing to me now. I have added up the cost and my wealth is in the cross.”
