Terrance Charles Monroe, 84, of Loveland, Colorado passed away on December 10, 2021 at Medical Center of the Rockies. Terry was born on August 1, 1937 in Olean, New York, the oldest of Victor and Theresa (Walsh) Monroe’s three children. Theresa passed away when Terry was six and he was raised by his stepmother Hilda (Franz) Monroe. On October 14, 1961 he married Barbara Jean McKay in Auburn, New York; they recently celebrated their 60th anniversary.

     Terry served in the Air Force from 1955 to 1959, and worked as an Air Traffic Controller for the Federal Aviation Administration for 34 years, retiring in 1996. After living in Ohio and Alaska, the family moved to Loveland in 1984. Terry loved the mountains and summited Long’s Peak more than 20 times; he climbed most of Colorado’s Fourteeners as well as Mount Whitney in California and Mount Rainier in Washington. He spent much of his early retirement volunteering in Rocky Mountain National Park.

     Terry is survived by his wife Barbara, children Tamara Monroe of Loveland, Thomas (Barb) Monroe of Cannon Falls, Minnesota, and Gary Monroe of Fort Collins, as well as four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents, brother Ronald and sister Maureen.
