JULY 14, 1934 – MARCH 4, 2021

Thomas Leroy Masters was born July 14, 1934 in Chariton, Iowa to George and Sarah Masters. He was second to the last child in a family of 10 siblings. He was the last of those siblings to pass away on March 4, 2021. Tom would tell you he has gone to be with the Lord. Tom was married to Laura Janette Hanks of Chadron, Nebraska on July 23, 1954. He and Laura were married for 67 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents and 9 siblings. Thomas had 5 children, Thomas LeRoy Masters Jr, Timothy Joseph Masters, Tamra Sue Masters, James Vernon Masters, and Allen Lee Masters. Tom had 17 grandchildren. Additionally, he had 14 great grandchildren.

Most pictures of Tom had a fishing pole in his hand or a child/grandchild/great grandchild on his lap. If you asked Tom, he would say give a man a fish and he will eat for a day. Teach a man to fish and he will eat for life. Go fishing without that man if he does not want to fish. He was featured in the Coloradoan twice. Once when he caught and 18 ½ pound German Brown out of Horsetooth Reservoir. He was also caught fishing in Loveland Lake in suit and tie… He was on his way to an appointment and just had to see if the fish were biting and he left with a stringer full of Croppie. His friend called him the mud hole fisherman.

Tom loved the Lord. He and his wife regularly attended church until his health prevented it. After that, he would listen to church on TV. Laura would tell you he would faithfully read at least 3 chapters a day from the Bible. It was important to Tom to share his faith with others.

He loved people and was a giving man. He was proud of his family.

He will surely be missed!
