Vilmārs Strautiņš, 88, of Broomfield, CO, died on January 11, 2023. 

He was born on April 7, 1934 in Birzgale, Latvia to Līna Otīlija Minkeviča and Kārlis Strautiņš.  They lived on the farm until 1944, when they fled to Germany. After living in 13 different places in Germany, Vilmārs immigrated to the United States in 1956, and moved to Bergenfield, NJ where he found lodgings across the street from his future wife, Eva Jenchen.

In 1956 he enlisted into the army and served in Germany with the 14th Cavalry.  While on leave, On October 27, 1957, he married the love of his life, Eva.  They moved to the Denver area in 1965 and welcomed a son, Aldis, in 1966. Vilmārs worked in data processing and moved into a management position at Bank Western. Vilmārs enjoyed fishing, race walking and photography with his favorite subjects being nature, landscapes and wildlife.  He is survived by his son, Aldis, and his wife, Rachel and three grandchildren, Talija, Karlis and Sofija, of Grand Junction, CO.  He is also survived by his nephew, Bill, and his wife, Pat, Damrow, of Glenford, NY.
