Virgil Wayne Piland, 83, of Bennett, Colorado, went to be with the Lord on October 16, 2021 surrounded by family at his home in Bennett. Virgil was born on December 22, 1938, at Macksville, Kansas, the son of Boyd A. and Elma I. Piland. Virgil grew up in Bennett, attending school and graduating from Bennett High School in 1956. He then joined the Army Reserves and received training in electronics. He later was employed by Simplex, a radio and television repair business in Aurora, Co. In the 1960’s, Virgil began farming with his dad. He also pursued his love for flying, and in the off-season Virgil transported airplanes for an Aircraft broker. He owned his own personal plane, and an arial spray plane. He was an excellent pilot. Virgil and his wife Judy have enjoyed their farm, their cabin in Pitkin, and visiting family and friends around the country. During their travels they met many people and developed great friendships. Virgil is survived by his wife, Judy. Son’s; Craig (Diane) Piland, Carl (Stacy) Sondburg. Daughters; Natalie (Greg) Nielson , Paula Shapiro, and Tobi (Frank) Placenti. He is also survived by Grandchildren; Zach Nielson, Kaylen Webber, Taylor Decell, Benjamin and Madison Shapiro, Michael and Izzi Placenti, Lexi Sondburg. Great Grand-child; Knox Decell. Brother, Lowell Piland and Sister, Marilyn Cronk. He was preceded in death by his parents, Boyd and Elma Piland, Grandparents, Aunts and Uncles. A Memorial Service is being held Saturday, October 23, 2021 at 11:00 AM. at Mount View Fellowship in Strasburg, CO with burial following at the Mount View Cemetery in Bennett.
