Obituary For Virginia Nuss Johnson Virginia Charlene Stroh was born to Karl and Helen Stroh on June 7, 1932, in Greeley, Colorado. Her parents farmed east of Longmont, Colorado for many years, so Virginia grew up on the farm. She attended grade school in Mead, Colorado, and high school at Longmont High School. She attended Colorado State University. She married Wilbur E. Nuss on May 3, 1953. They took up residence in Boulder where they raised two girls, Jayne and Karla. They lived in Boulder for several years before moving to a mountain home on Olde Stage Road, and then out to a country property near Erie. They moved to Longmont in 1991. Wilbur died shortly after they had moved to Longmont, on September 4, 1991. Virginia re-married to Donald T. Johnson on November 12, 2000. They enjoyed several years together in the autumn of life. Donald died May 25, 2010. She was a homemaker when the children were still at home. She and Wilbur were members of the Junior Chamber of Commerce [JC’s] for many years and made many lifelong friends in that group. She worked for several years at the Rocky Flats nuclear facility. She was a volunteer at Longmont United Hospital for several years. She was also a secretary for Mt. Zion Lutheran Church in Boulder, where she was a member for many years. Virginia cherished her family and the time spent in the many family gatherings and celebrations. She was very proud of her grandchildren – Zachary [son of Karla], Jeremy, Anna, Karl, and Chloe [children of Jayne]. She enjoyed gardening, housekeeping, sewing, books, and cooking. She also enjoyed her fellowship within the church and made several cherished friendships through the years. The last several years of her life she was a member of Eternal Savior Lutheran Church in Lafayette, Colorado. She was preceded in death by her parents, Karl and Helen Stroh, by her husband Wilbur and her husband Donald. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Dwayne Stroh. She is survived by her daughter Jayne [husband Paul], her daughter Karla, and her grandchildren - Zach Bruton, Jeremy Rhode, Anna Rhode, Karl Rhode, and Chloe Rhode. She is also survived by four great grandchildren – Bryce Rhode, James Rhode, Jenevieve Rhode, and Willbur Rhode.

A memorial service will be held at Eternal Savior Lutheran Church in Lafayette, Colorado, on Thursday October 22, 2020, at 10 AM. The service is by invitation only due to constraints in regard to COVID. The service will be live-streamed on the Eternal Savior Lutheran Church Facebook page, and will be stored there for later viewing.

Interment will be held at Mountain View cemetery in Longmont, Colorado. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Eternal Savior Lutheran Church and/or the Alzheimer’s Association [alz.org].
