William “Bill” Henry Long of Lafayette, CO went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, September 22, 2022 at the age of 76 after a battle with cancer.
Bill was born to Florence Kindness in Chicago, IL on August 2, 1946. He is preceded in death by his mother and daughter-in-law Dee Gibney Long. He is survived by his brother Wayne Long, his loving wife Sandy, his four children Billy Long (Rachel), Steve Long (Susan Smith), Sandra Kealiher (Brett), and Peter Long; and his eight grandchildren, Holli Long, Kaileah Long, Morgan Long, Parker Long, Ashley Smith, Ian Kealiher, Jonathan Smith and Lauren Kealiher.
Bill graduated from Austin High School in Chicago, IL. After high school, Bill joined the United States Army where he served as a medic in the Vietnam War.
Bill worked for the Boulder County School District as the Head Custodian for over 26 years. He retired from the district in 2010. He was a father figure to many of the students that attended Crestview Elementary, who lovingly called him “Mr. Bill”.
Bill was a kind man and a friend to all that knew him. Bill enjoyed fishing, hunting, and working on cars.
His family takes comfort knowing Bill is no longer suffering and is out of pain. He will be missed dearly but his memory will live on in our hearts forever.
