JR passed unexpectedly September 6th leaving our family devastated and heartbroken.

He is survived by his wife Stephanie Eikleberry and his children Ashley (Michael) Owens and Jake (Megan) Eikleberry along with grandchildren Easton Owens, Tate Eikleberry, Hayden Owens, and Addyson Eikleberry. Brother to Randy (Karyl) Eikleberry, Shawn Eikleberry and Shane Eikleberry and uncle to Colt Eikleberry, Riley Sena, and Trevor (Maggie) Sena. He's preceded in death by parents Bill and Jo Eikleberry, grandparents Elmer (Mary) Davis and Myrle (Leila) Eikleberry. He graduated from Byers High School in 1979 earning a football scholarship to attend St Mary’s College in Kansas where he played for 2 years before finding his way into the oilfield.

When the oilfield industry changed, he embarked on to a new career as a driver in the trash industry where he had a long career (28 years) as a driver for both Waste Management (23 yrs.) & Waste Connections (5yrs). His hobbies included fishing, hunting, golfing, participating in golf tournaments, coaching youth sports, watching anything sports related. He loved a good party and listening to classic rock and country music. His favorite’s included Lynyrd Skynyrd, Hank Williams Jr, and Waylon Jennings.

He was an active member of his community. He volunteered for the Byers Rescue & Fire Departments while his parents were members, coached youth sports not only in Byers but also in Strasburg & Bennett, anytime there was a cleanup project for the baseball bleachers of the rodeo bleachers he would come and help paint or pick up trash assisted with Byers Park & Recreation Programs. He was known for his sarcastic humor, work ethic, loyalty and but mostly the love he had for his family was undeniable.

He had recently become a grandpa of 4 in the last 2+ years. Easton started calling him Pop Pop one day and the name stuck. Watching Pop Pop with his grandchildren was such an incredible blessing. If you were lucky enough to be part of his life you will have laughed probably got in trouble and have a memory full of stories that will brings tears and laughter to you. Hopefully one day you can share them with the family. This remarkable man will be missed by our family, friends, and community however he will live on forever in our hearts.
