Tim Waters brings to the City of Longmont and all of its residents a life time of experience and skills that would be hard if not impossible to match.

Tim brings unmatched leadership skills as a CEO of a world leading education research, development and service company. All skills needed to serve the Longmont residents.

Tim has extensive experience in education as a teacher, high school principal, assistant superintendent, education advisor to the Arizona Governor, and school superintendent; all roles requiring leadership skills and the ability to collaborate with many other people. These skills are transferable to any leadership position.

Of importance to me is Tim’s experience and interest in early childhood education. As a board member of the Colorado Statewide Parent Coalition I fully appreciate the benefits of investing in preschool children’s education. Children that start kindergarten and first grade with a better educational foundation will do better in school, be more likely to graduate from high school, have better jobs, and be less likely to need public assistance.

While the city council is not the school board, decisions made by council impact all residents including children and their parents. It is to all our benefit that city council and the school board collaborate where possible. As an example, known policies that protect all residents can reduce fears of some parents so that they are more likely to participate in school and other public events such as city council meetings. This is just one of the ways that Tim will help bring the community together.
