The Latino community has been an integral part of Longmont since its inception. We understand and honor the commitment to progressive movements and leaders that have allowed those communities to flourish. It is in this regard that we as long time leaders of Longmont’s Latino community wish to address a significant concern with voters.

Recently the Executive Director of the Longmont Latino Chamber of commerce has expressed support for candidate Josh Goldberg representing him as a supporter of the Latino community. These observations may hold merit, yet they also bring up a concern that we wish to highlight. Through his support, the Executive Director of the Latino Chamber of Commerce has created an impression that Longmont’s Latino leadership as a whole shares his views.

This support and statement in no way represents the Latino community at large and does not reflect the stance of Latino leaders in Longmont. In fact, we as leaders who have worked tirelessly in the Latino community have determined that Tim Waters best fits the mold of the type of leadership our Latino communities’ need. Tim has worked with Latino families and youth as an educator for years and has been publicly recognized for his service to Latino Youth.

To this day Tim continues his work with the Latino community often collaborating with groups and organizations while speaking up for issues that plague our communities. Tim is the candidate who best understands our communities and who can offer the best representation. It is for these reasons that we as Latino Leaders wish to urge our community and partners to lend their support and votes for Tim Waters for City Council Ward 1.
