Several dozen people of all ages beat the winter blues on Saturday with a Mardi Gras parade through Longmont’s streets.

Dubbed the World’s Tiniest Parade, the group began at St. Vrain Cidery and made its way along Fourth Avenue to Main Street, then up a block and back to the cidery.

The parade included talented brass musicians, colorful costumes and of course, plenty of boas, beads and bejeweled masks.

John Young, co-founder of Abbott & Wallace Distilling Company, dressed up as a pirate and directed the parade, so everyone was safe on the streets.

“It’s just such a fun celebration,” he said. “We just feel like it’s a great opportunity to celebrate community and get people together to kind of break their winter hibernation and celebrate this community — Longmont loves parades.”

The Mardi Gras parade ended with live music and plenty of cider.
