To the Editor of the Longmont Observer,
I am Eduardo Sanchez, Eddie, and I am writing about candidates for City Council in Longmont. I have been able to make one debate, watched others
online and have been reading about the candidates. I have emailed them with some questions that I would like answers to, because they were either not
asked in the debate and because I would like to be more involved.
I can vote for Mayor, At-Large and Ward 3. This weekend I emailed questions to various candidates. I received replies in a relatively timely manner from mayoral, at-large candidates and one of the Ward 3 candidates. The only candidate that didn’t respond to me, was Ward 3 candidate Susie. In fact, it has been 4 days now and she has not sent any type of reply. Each other candidate gave me some response within a day or two. Even an automatic reply to say they were busy and they would get back to me soon.
On the other hand, her opponent, Regan Sample replied to me by the end of the same day. Not only that, he gave me a clear and straightforward answer.
I have not met him, and know little about him but his responsiveness is a plus. In the debates, I noticed a lack of substance from Susie, she seemed to use a lot of words but say nothing besides key buzz words. I especially wanted clarification from her due to her vague answers in the debates. Because of Regan Sample’s direct answers, ability to reply, and candidness and because of Susie’s inability to respond and lack of solid answers I can NOT vote for her. For someone who talks about inclusivity, bringing a voice to people in the community, I was very surprised to be ignored by her. Regan instead was the person that made me feel that he was listening, that he cared and took the time to give me a real answer.
Vote for Sample for Ward 3.
