It was an unusual sight Saturday evening for Longmont resident — a police officer standing on the resident’s doorstep, holding what appeared to be their food delivery.

Longmont Police Department Officer Matthew Gadbois went out of his way to help a DoorDash driver deliver their food to the correct address after they were involved in a crash at Jersey Avenue and South Main Street, the department confirmed.

It was unknown whether there were injuries in the two-vehicle crash, but the airbags on both vehicles successfully deployed, said Longmont police spokesperson Robin Ericson. There were no passengers in the vehicles.

The delivery food recipient sent in an anonymous tip to the Leader, thanking the officer for his good deed.

“He went above and beyond to ensure I received my dinner, and I imagine he did that for anyone else who had an order with that driver at the time,” the tip read.

Ericson said Gadbois didn’t deliver the food for the recognition.

“He said it was the right thing to do,” Ericson explained.
