I would like to share why I believe Gary Hodges will make a great Ward 3 Longmont City Council member. In a time where we are experiencing record crime in our city, burgeoning homelessness, and economic conditions that underlie these social ills, we need a fresh and creative perspective regarding the future of this special place we all call home.
Gary is bringing a reality-based approach with his ideas for our city, and not chasing unattainable goals.
His acceptance that RTD/FasTracks commuter rail will never extend to Longmont is widely shared across the city. If we can accept the truth of the situation we find ourselves in, better decisions can be made going forward.
I've heard him speak to the likelihood of Longmont being on 100% renewables by 2030, and how that is an impossible goal, and that shutting down the generators may not even be the "greenest;" action to take.
He is the only Ward 3 candidate willing to speak the truth of the vagrancy issue negatively impacting Longmont. If we can't have honest discussion on such an important topic, how can we ever make sound policy?
Gary has been exceedingly transparent throughout his campaign, posting his responses to questionnaires received and even recordings of interviews on his website. He is not evasive. Spend some time on his website and you will know where he stands.
We must operate in a world where reality exists. Gary wants Longmont to function and govern within a sphere honesty and truthfulness. Please join me in supporting Gary Hodges for the City Council Ward 3 seat.
