When Susie Hidalgo-Fahring was elected for Ward 3 in 2019, she became Longmont's first Latina to serve on city council. After working tirelessly, effectively, and respectfully to serve all Longmont residents, Susie is running again to continue her generous public service. Her devotion to serving is especially noteworthy because she is a full-time bilingual teacher at Burlington Elementary School. Educating and advocating for kids gives Susie a unique and important lens as she serves as a policymaker for Longmont.

During her time on Council, Susie has done the deep dive to listen to and respond to her Ward 3 constituents on issues like McIntosh Lake's COVID-inspired explosion of users and the resulting impact on the surrounding neighborhoods. She has continually worked with city staff to embed equity and inclusivity to all aspects of Longmont affairs. Susie has also focused on improving access to quality and affordable mental health care. She has tried to help erase the stigma of mental illness by bravely sharing her daughter's struggle and attempted suicide. The financial debts incurred from supporting her daughter's mental health have prevented Susie and her husband from buying a home. As a result, she understands the barriers to purchasing a home and building equity for Longmont residents.

The only woman candidate for Ward 3, Susie's political, professional, and personal real-life experience make her the best candidate for Ward 3.
