Intermountain Health announced Thursday that Jim Sheets will take over as president of the healthcare operations for the Colorado and Montana regions.

Sheets earned a MHA and an MBA from the University of Minnesota and a BS in business management from the University of Utah.

He joined the Intermountain Health team in 2007 and has served more than 16 years in a leadership role with the last nine months as the group president for 10 CommonSpirit Health hospitals in Colorado and Utah.

Sheets will begin the new role on January 15.

“I am excited to be returning to Intermountain Health to lead operations in Colorado and Montana,” Sheets said. “There is a rich history of service and commitment to our communities across Montana,  and Colorado, which started more than 150 years ago. I am excited to align this history with the mission of Intermountain Health as we transform healthcare in the future.”

“I am thrilled to welcome Jim back to Intermountain Health,” said Chief Operating Officer Nannette Berensen, to whom Sheets will report. “I am confident that under Jim’s leadership, caregivers in Colorado and Montana will thrive. He brings a wealth of experience and talents to this role. I am excited to watch the impact his leadership will have on shaping the future of health and healthcare throughout the region and Intermountain Health.”
