Nebraskan coffee shop makes Longmont newest home

The coffee shop is the second shop for the Snyder family.

Longmont’s newest coffee drive-thru Scooter’s Coffee is selling half-off drinks throughout the week for its grand opening.

The owners, Megan and Mike Snyder, are offering the discount for the Turtle Latte on Thursday and for any drink on the Scooter’s Coffee mobile app on Friday. The grand opening week is ending Friday with a ribbon cutting with the Longmont Area Chamber of Commerce.

Hailing originally from Nebraska where Scooter’s Coffee is headquartered, the Snyders wanted to share their home-state staple with Colorado. The Longmont location at 2151 N Main St is their second location in the state.

“With it being headquartered in Omaha, there's a Scooter's Coffee on like every corner. It's like a Starbucks kind of situation there,” Megan said. “When we lived in Omaha, we would go through Scooter’s all the time, just because there was always one really close and really convenient to where we worked and where we lived.”

The couple opened their first location about two years ago in Northglenn, making them one of the early franchise owners to get in on the ground floor of Scooter’s Colorado expansion.

The first Scooter’s opened in Broomfield in 2009, said Josi Orsi, Senior Manager Brand Execution for the company, in an email. She added that Colorado, being a neighboring state, was a natural fit for the coffee brand and the state residents have been welcoming each time they opened their nine drive-thrus.

“The Snyder’s are excellent representatives of the brand and a great partner to develop the Scooter’s Coffee brand in Colorado. Scooter’s is all about relationship coffee – whether that means with our farmers we source our coffee from, our partnership with our franchisees, or our franchisee’s relationship with their customers,” Orsi said in a written statement. “The Snyder’s radiate positivity and have been a joy to work with as they continue to open more stores. We couldn’t ask for better stewards of the brand.”

Megan Snyder said they signed on to open five Scooter’s Coffee locations. She’s especially excited about having a drive-thru in Longmont since it’s the city they planted roots in since moving from Nebraska.

“It's exciting to open in Longmont because Longmont is where we are doing life,” Megan said. “It's where we're raising our family, where our kids are going to school, where we're meeting our friends.”
