Our focus is going to be providing our clients and their pets with a very personalized and progressive approach to veterinary medicine ... that looks like customizing care plans for each individual pet's needs,” said Seneca Guillen, the practice manager and co-owner of the new Clover Basin Animal Hospital

The new veterinary clinic is expecting to open at the end of June in a new development located at 1425 S. Airport Road just south of Clover Basin Drive in southwest Longmont.

The clinic will be the first tenants in the new complex. According to Mark Brunner with Actis, LLC, the company that owns the building, Renaissance Wine and Liquor will be the next tenant with an expected November opening. More businesses are expected to follow.

“What we want to create with Clover Basin Animal Hospital is  a very warm and welcoming environment to our hospital,” Guillen said . “We don’t want it to feel cold or sterile. We want it to feel like a place our clients can bring their pets, and it’s just a very open communication and honest place that will have a high level of trust.”

Guillen says she and her husband, Anthony Guillen, who is a co-owner, have been working to open the clinic somewhere in Longmont. However, they first had to find the right community, where they could also afford to open up shop.

“As a start up clinic, we weren’t able to buy a piece of land and do a build, so we worked to find a lease space and finding something that would work was a little hard to find, but we found this building and it had space available,” Antohny Guillen said. “It’s a new building and they were looking for their first tenant and it kind of worked out that the area is underserved by the number of clinics.”

“This part of town is growing so we were looking at possibilities for growth within our community,” Seneca Guillen added. She also will oversee the daily operations of the clinic.

Both she and Anthony have backgrounds focused on animal health, and have called Longmont home since 2013.

Seneca says the clinic will open with one veterinarian providing services and they plan to grow within the next few months.

With the warmer weather here and more people planning to be outside with their pet, the owners are  expecting Clover Basin Animal Hospital to be busy.

“In this area you’ll want to focus on heartworm prevention as well as flea and tick prevention,” Seneca said . “Also, just making sure that their pet is up to date on all those vaccines. So in Colorado, rabies is the only vaccine that is required by law, but we also recommend parvo, borderatello, which is kennel cough and also leptospirosis in this area. Leptospirosis is bacteria that is spread in the urine of wildlife. And we do see it quite a bit in this area.”

Seneca says besides vaccines and preventative medicine, many veterinary clinics stay busy with other issues like allergies, ear infections and injuries like cuts and broken bones or sprains. Clover Basin will provide some surgeries like spray and neuter, and will have a heavy focus on dentistry care for pets. They’re also partnering with nearby animal hospitals for any emergency care that is out of their scope of practice.

“We’re really excited to serve this community,” Seneca said. “We’re really excited about this opportunity to bring this modern and progressive veterinary clinic to the area. We really can’t wait to start welcoming in our clinics and meeting our furbabies.”
