A new maintenance facility will land at Vance Brand Municipal Airport after the city council last week approved a lease agreement with Longmont’s Best Steel, LLC.

The agreement calls for the development and construction of a new hangar at the northwest corner of the airport. The lease to Best Steel will be used to construct an aircraft maintenance facility, according to a city staff report.

The lease will increase the airport fund annually by $8.7 million. The maintenance facility will bring four new jobs to the airport and city, according to the staff report.

Best Steel wanted to relocate the company from another airport to Vance Brand, according to the report.

The facility, known as Hangar H-74, is about 24,500 square feet, according to the lease agreement. It will store aircraft, aircraft parts, aircraft tools and aircraft equipment owned by Best Steel, according to the lease agreement.
