Anne Kelly worked for the Boulder County District Attorney's office before winning the seat in Tuesday's election

Kelly was a senior deputy district attorney in Boulder County before being appointed to the role of district attorney in the 12th Judicial District.

The former DA in the 12th resigned from the seat, leaving the district in need of help. Attorney General Phil Weisner and other officer partnered to "provide prosecutors and support for the safety of that community and the criminal cases pending in the jurisdiction," a news release from the Boulder County DA's Office stated. Kelly was among those to lend a hand.

On Aug. 29th, Gov. Jared Polis appointed Kelly as the DA in the 12th Judicial District.

On Tuesday, Kelly faced opponent Robert Willett, who had served as DA in the district before. According to the unofficial results, Kelly led the race with over 60% of the votes.

“Anne is an outstanding public servant and prosecutor. I am thrilled for Anne and the communities within the 12th Judicial District. Anne will be a great leader for the San Luis Valley. I look forward to working with Anne in this new role. We appreciate her great service to the victims and people of Boulder County,” said District Attorney Michael Dougherty.
